If you’ve never pondered what traffic lights and public relations have in common, that’s perfectly fine. Most people haven’t.

The role of PR sometimes involves finding and creating connections. Traffic lights control the flow of traffic, letting participants know when it’s safe to move and when to stop.

Public relations involve managing the flow of information between you and the public to maintain a positive image.

Similar to how traffic lights use color symbolism to signal and regulate behavior on the road, public relations also leverage symbols, messages, and communication strategies to influence the perception of the target audience.

While traffic lights aim to reduce the risk of accidents, public relations serve as a tool to reduce potential risks from negative situations.
